Cynthia Niekamp Biography and Net Worth

Cynthia A. “Cindy” Niekamp joined Ball Corporation’s board of directors in 2016. She is retired senior vice president of automotive coatings at PPG Industries, Inc., a global leader in performance and industrial coatings.

Niekamp joined PPG in 2009 as vice president of automotive coatings and was promoted to senior vice president in 2010. She had responsibility for the multi-billion dollar revenue business with operations across 15 countries and more than 6,000 employees. She also served as member of the PPG operating committee until her retirement in 2016.

While at PPG, Niekamp charted and implemented a strategy to improve the financial performance of the business unit and to double its revenues. She also accelerated the business’ growth into emerging countries, diversified the customer base and pursued strategic acquisitions.

Previously, Niekamp served as president and general manager of BorgWarner’s TorqTransfer Systems division, a supplier of engineered-four-wheel drive systems to major automakers. She also served in various executive roles for MeadWestvaco Corporation (now part of WestRock Company), including vice president, corporate strategy and planning; senior vice president, strategy and specialty operations; and chief financial officer.

In addition to her director role on the Ball Corporation board of directors, Niekamp serves on the board of Magna International Inc., a $36.6 billion Canadian auto parts manufacturer. She previously served on the public boards of Delphi Corporation, Rockwood Holdings and Cooper Tire & Rubber Company.

Niekamp holds an MBA from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree with distinction, industrial engineering, from Purdue University.
