He also held the position of senior vice president of governance, projects and engineering for Duke Energy's nuclear organization, responsible for corporate functions, which include engineering, major projects, governance and operations support. As senior vice president of nuclear operations, he provided oversight for several Duke Energy-operated nuclear plants, including Harris, Brunswick, Oconee and Crystal River. He was the site vice president of McGuire Nuclear Station, managing station operations, maintenance and business processes.

He joined the company in 1985 as an engineer at Oconee Nuclear Station, progressing through various roles, including nuclear shift supervisor, operations shift manager and engineering supervisor. He also served as engineering manager for Catawba Nuclear Station and station manager for McGuire Nuclear Station.

The Jeannette, Pa., native earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He also maintained a senior reactor operator license from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for Oconee Nuclear Station from 1992 to 2000.
