His background also includes serving as Assistant U.S. Attorney and Deputy Staff Secretary to President Bill Clinton from 2000 to 2001. 

He is a graduate of Stanford Law School and Union College, where he graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He has lectured as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center.
