VP of IDACORP

Julia Hilton was named Vice President and General Counsel of IDACORP and Idaho Power in March 2023.

Prior to this appointment, she served as the Deputy General Counsel and Director of Legal for Idaho Power. Her previous Idaho Power roles included corporate counsel and senior counsel.

Hilton has served as an in-house utility attorney since 2008, with much of that time spent in leadership. Prior to joining Idaho Power in 2012, she led the legal department and oversaw all legal issues for the American Samoa Power Authority.

Hilton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the University of Utah, a Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University School of Law where she graduated magna cum laude, and an Executive MBA from Boise State University. She clerked for former Chief Justice Schroeder at the Idaho Supreme Court and Chief Justice Kruse and Associate Justice Richmond at the High Court of American Samoa. Hilton completed the University of Idaho’s Energy Executive Course in 2019.

Hilton is a recipient of the Idaho Business Review’s Leaders in Law Award and the Women’s and Children’s Alliance TWIN award. She is Board Secretary of the Girl Scouts of the Silver Sage Council and President of the Board for the Mountain West Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.

The company operates 17 hydropower generating plants located in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon; three natural gas-fired plants in southern Idaho; and interests in two coal-fired steam electric generating plants located in Wyoming and Nevada. As of December 31, 2023, it had approximately 4,762 pole-miles of high-voltage transmission lines; 23 step-up transmission substations located at power plants; 21 transmission substations; 11 switching stations; 30 mixed-use transmission and distribution substations; 186 energized distribution substations; and 29,714 pole-miles of distribution lines, and 131 MW of battery storage, as well as provides electric utility services to approximately 633,000 retail customers in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon. The company serves commercial and industrial customers, which involved in food processing, electronics and general manufacturing, agriculture, health care, government, and education. It also invests in housing and other real estate tax credit investments. IDACORP, Inc. was founded in 1915 and is headquartered in Boise, Idaho.
