Mr. Elbaum has served as our Senior Managing Director and Chief Capital Markets Officer since February 2025. Previously, he was Senior Managing Director, Strategic Initiatives and assumed the interim role of Chief Capital Markets Officer in October 2024. He joined Pennymac in April 2023 as Managing Director, Strategic Initiatives.
Mr. Elbaum is responsible for all capital markets activities, including the development and execution of investment strategies, secondary marketing, servicing asset valuation, hedging activities and capital markets execution strategies with the government-sponsored enterprises.
Mr. Elbaum has over 25 years of experience in the mortgage industry. Prior to Pennymac, he was Chief Financial Officer at Home Point Financial from 2020 to 2023, Chief Financial Officer at Marlette Funding, LLC from 2018 to 2020, and Chief Financial Officer of Merrill Lynch, Bank of America’s Wealth Management division from 2011 to 2017. Mr. Elbaum also served as Chief Financial Officer of Bank of America’s mortgage lending division and Chief Financial Officer of the Residential Lending Division at Countrywide Financial Corporation. Earlier in his career, Mr. Elbaum served as Senior Vice President of Finance at Aames Financial Corporation and Audit Manager at Price Waterhouse.
He holds a Master of Accounting from the University of Southern California and is a Certified Public Accountant.
