As President for EMEA at BIRKENSTOCK, Bouyakhf leads the team tasked with growing the brand and the business across a major global region.
Bouyakhf’s multi-faceted role involves overseeing distribution (direct-to-consumer and wholesale partnerships), brand and merchandising management, as well as finance and HR. All of this takes place within the dynamic and culturally diverse EMEA region, which encompasses Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In this position, he leads teams that collaborate with a broad network of wholesale partners and oversee distribution across multiple countries.
With Germany being the country where the BIRKENSTOCK brand originated, the executive – who worked at Nike for almost 20 years – understands its importance as a key market. At the same time, he is pursuing ambitious growth targets across the entire EMEA region. This includes strengthening the direct-to-consumer side of the business and identifying markets where brand recognition can be further elevated and sales increased, with the UK and France among the successes to date.
Alongside growing sales, Bouyakhf has helped expand BIRKENSTOCK’s loyal fanbase across the EMEA region through a comprehensive direct consumer relations strategy. Bouyakhf, who joined BIRKENSTOCK in May 2021, is also leading a focused regional strategy to grow revenues in product categories beyond BIRKENSTOCK’s iconic sandals. This approach is already reflected in the rapidly growing popularity of the BEND sneaker model.
Based in Germany and frequently traveling across the region, Bouyakhf considers creating and meeting customer demand a core part of his role. Strengthening the brand’s success in EMEA also requires thoughtful and creative strategies. Through his EMEA-wide transformation agenda, BIRKENSTOCK is being further developed to support its long-term ambitions. From a brand activation perspective, Bouyakhf works closely with BIRKENSTOCK’s brand and creative teams to shape tonality, creative execution, and storytelling that resonate with both existing customers and new audiences across the region.
