John Lupica is Vice Chairman, Chubb Group and President, North America Insurance. He has executive responsibility for all Chubb general insurance business in the United States, Canada and Bermuda including commercial P&C, personal lines, agriculture, and accident and health insurance. The business units of North America Insurance include Major Accounts, which provides commercial P&C insurance products to the large corporate market in the U.S. and Canada through retail brokers; Chubb Middle Market and Chubb Small Business, the retail commercial P&C insurance businesses that serve the middle market and small commercial clients, respectively, in the U.S. and Canada; Westchester, which offers excess and surplus lines specialty products through wholesale brokers; Chubb Bermuda, which writes high-level excess liability, property, political risk and directors and officers insurance worldwide; North America Personal Risk Services, the personal lines P&C insurance business that serves affluent and high net worth clients in the U.S. and Canada; and the North American Agriculture segment, which includes Rain and Hail, a premier underwriter of multiple peril crop insurance distributed through independent agents, and Chubb Agribusiness, which offers farm and ranch property as well as specialty P&C coverages distributed through brokers and agents for companies that manufacture, process and distribute agricultural products. Mr. Lupica also has senior executive responsibility for financial, surety and property lines in North America as well as the company’s branch operations and field organization in North America that serves the agents and brokers of Chubb.
Mr. Lupica has more than 30 years of property and casualty insurance experience. Prior to his current role, he served as President, North America Major Accounts & Specialty Insurance. Before ACE’s acquisition of Chubb in January 2016, Mr. Lupica was Vice Chairman of ACE Limited and ACE Group and Chairman of Insurance – North America. He was appointed Vice Chairman of ACE Limited in November 2013 and Vice Chairman, ACE Group, in March 2014.
Mr. Lupica joined ACE in 2000 as Executive Vice President of the U.S. Professional Risk business and advanced to Division President of the unit. He also served as Division President of U.S. Regional Operations before being named President of ACE USA in 2005. He was appointed to the additional role of Chief Operating Officer, Insurance – North America, in 2010. Prior to ACE, Mr. Lupica served as Senior Vice President for Munich-American Risk Partners, Inc., and held various management positions at American International Group.
Mr. Lupica received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
