Reed has spent the past two decades focused on understanding the productivity and profitability needs of farmers and ranchers. Prior to his current role, he served as the Ag & Turf president responsible for the crop care, crop harvesting, and turf and utility businesses, as well as the North and South American and Australian markets.
Reed joined John Deere in 1998. His previous leadership assignments included President, John Deere Financial; Senior Vice President, Intelligent Solutions Group; Senior Vice President, Global Marketing Services; marketing manager for large tractors; branch and region sales manager roles in Europe; and division and territory manager roles in the U.S.
As a leader, Reed has helped lay the foundation for the current John Deere precision-farming platform. His team's work combined data-driven decisions with Deere's industry-leading equipment, resulting in a tremendous benefit to the farmer. In 2019, under Reed's leadership, the company's large R4038 Self-Propelled Sprayer was recognized as the "Best at CES (the Consumer Electronics Show) — Sustainability Award" by tech media.
Reed has also been a strong advocate for the ag industry globally, sitting on the boards of the National FFA Foundation and America's Cultivation Corridor, respectively.
He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a bachelor's degree in finance. He received a Juris Doctorate degree from the Ohio State University College of Law.
