Mr. Neels previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Guidant Corporation, where he was responsible for the operations of Guidant’s four operating units, Cardiac Rhythm Management, Vascular Intervention, Cardiac Surgery, and Endovascular Solutions. Prior to that he was responsible for Guidant’s sales operations, corporate communications, corporate marketing, investor relations and government relations. He also served as Vice President of Global Marketing for Vascular Intervention and as Managing Director for German and Central European operations. Prior to joining Guidant, Mr. Neels held general management, sales and marketing positions at Eli Lilly & Company in the U.S. and Europe.

Mr. Neels holds a Business Engineering degree from the University of Leuven in Belgium and a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University.

Further, the company offers SimpliDerm, which uses human acellular dermal matrices for tissue repair and reconstruction in various applications, such as sports medicine, hernia repair, trauma reconstruction, and breast reconstruction surgeries following mastectomy. It serves hospitals and healthcare facilities through its direct sales force, independent sales agents, and distributors. The company was formerly known as Aziyo Biologics, Inc. and changed its name to Elutia Inc. in September 2023. Elutia Inc. was incorporated in 2015 and is headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland.
