David Bharucha Biography and Net Worth

Dr. Bharucha joined Milestone Pharmaceuticals as Chief Medical Officer in February 2022. He is a cardiac electrophysiologist who brings considerable global drug-development and clinical experience in cardiovascular and multiple other therapeutic areas. Prior to Milestone, Dr. Bharucha served as Vice President, R&D at AbbVie and Allergan where he headed multiple sections including leadership of innovative programs in cardiology, cardiac surgery, arrhythmia, and hypertension. Dr. Bharucha has led work resulting in regulatory approvals including those impacting product label expansion in and outside the U.S. He has held R&D governance board positions including responsibilities spanning early- to late-development and post-approval life-cycle management; led teams in the anti-infectives, women’s health, and urology spaces; and represented R&D functions of these prior companies in consortium- and government-partnered trials, in business development actions, and in collaboration with commercial partners. Prior to his most recent positions, he held roles of increasing responsibility at Forest Laboratories and Actavis PLC. Prior to joining industry R&D, Dr. Bharucha was on faculty at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, NYC, and Jefferson Medical University, Philadelphia (Mainline Health), and was a practicing cardiac electrophysiologist in those organizations.

Dr. Bharucha’s training included fellowships (cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology) at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School; residency (internal medicine) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania; an MD and PhD (Biochemistry & Molecular Biology) from the University of Chicago; and a BA (Biology) from Haverford College.
