Founded in 1983, Mission Produce began as a regional avocado packer. Today, the company sells its product throughout the world. The company, which deals in fresh and frozen avocados and has several packing, processing and distribution facilities throughout the United States, including Oxnard, Denver, Chicago, Vineland, Atlanta and Dallas. Its international operations include Mexico, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa and Peru.
Stephen graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business and began his career with Santa Clara Produce, Inc. In 1983, he became a founding partner at Mission Produce.
Stephen is the past chairman of the Produce Marketing Association, past director of the Ventura County Agricultural Association, past director of the California Avocado Commission, past president of the Ventura County Taxpayer Association, and past director of Sunkist. He is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for Cal Poly, a director to Cal Poly Foundation, and past chairman of the PMA Education Foundation.
Stephen was elected to the board in 1996 and served as chairman in 2013.
