Jeffrey Ubben is the founder and managing partner of Inclusive Capital Partners. He is also the retired CEO, chief investment officer and founder of ValueAct Capital, a hedge fund based in San Francisco.
Before starting ValueAct in 2000, Ubben worked for over five years as a managing partner for Blum Capital Partners. Before that, he managed the Fidelity Value Fund at Fidelity Investments for eight years.
Ubben’s career has included leadership roles at a wide variety of public and private companies, including as a director for Nikola and The AES Corporation, and as a former director of Catalina Marketing Corp., Gartner Group, Mentor Corporation, Twenty-First Century Fox Inc., Sara Lee Corp., Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc., Valeant Pharmaceuticals International and Willis Towers Watson, among others.
In 2015, Ubben acquired a minority stake in United Talent Agency and was nominated to serve on the board of directors for Twenty-First Century Fox. He also serves on the boards of Duke University, the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation, Northwestern University and as a contributing member to the World Economic Forum. In 2020, he left ValueAct Capital to focus more of his time on social investing.
Ubben earned his B.A. at Duke University and his M.B.A. at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
