Shawn Anderson serves as Chief Strategy and Risk Officer. He was elevated to this role reporting to the CEO on June 1, 2020, after having served as Vice President, Strategy and Chief Risk Officer since January 2019. He is responsible for aligning NiSource’s long-term strategy with stakeholder priorities, including portfolio optimization, renewable energy, and growth strategies. Shawn is also responsible for all risk and insurance operations at the company, including leading the quantification and prioritization of risk mitigation solutions.
Prior to becoming Vice President, Strategy and Chief Risk Officer, Shawn had served as Treasurer and Chief Risk Officer since 2016. His earlier roles included Vice President of Regulatory and Finance for Columbia Gas of Ohio, a NiSource subsidiary serving approximately 1.4 million natural gas customers. He was responsible for developing regulatory strategy and policy, including external relations and oversight for all regulatory filings. His responsibilities also included financial planning, forecasting, analysis and financial reporting.
Previously, Shawn served as Director of Regulatory Strategy and Director of Regulatory Affairs, in which he led Columbia’s regulatory initiatives surrounding the company’s economic development, local government policy, energy assistance, energy efficiency programs, and was responsible for all Columbia Gas of Ohio regulatory filings before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Mount Carmel Health System and formerly served as treasurer on the executive committee of the governing board of directors for Children’s Hunger Alliance. He is also a graduate of Leadership Columbus.
Shawn earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University, a master’s degree in business administration from Ohio University, and his Six Sigma Black Belt from Xavier University.
