David is an executive vice president and the chief financial officer of Northern Trust. He is responsible for overseeing the firm’s global financial strategy, functions and operations, including Treasury, Controllership, Corporate Tax, Investor Relations, Capital Management, Management Reporting, Planning and Analysis.  

Before he was named chief financial officer, Dave was president of Northern Trust’s Global Family and Private Investment Offices, which serves the financial services needs of family offices, family foundations, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, private trust companies and private investment companies.  

Prior to this role, Dave was executive vice president and head of the Americas, Corporate & Institutional Services with responsibility for all of Northern Trust’s institutional businesses in North and South America. 

Dave joined Northern Trust in 2012 after more than 25 years at JPMorgan in New York and London, where he was vice chairman of Investment Banking, a member of the firm’s Investment Banking Management Committee, and CEO of Midwest Investment Banking. 

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business. He serves as chairman of the board of trustees for the Goodman Theatre in Chicago and is a member of the Commercial Club of Chicago.
