Wayne Pisano has more than 30 years of experience as a pharmaceutical industry executive and was recognized in 2010 as Pharma Executive of the Year by the World Vaccine Congress. He has been a Board Director of Oncolytics Biotech since 2012 and currently serves as the Board Chair. Mr Pisano was elected to join the Board of Altimmune Inc in 2018 and continues to serve on the Board, is Chairman of the Nominating & Governance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. He was the Chairman of Provention Bio from 2019 to April 2023, when the company was acquired by Sanofi for $4.9 billion.

Mr Pisano joined Sanofi Pasteur in 1997 and was promoted to president and CEO in 2007, the position he successfully held until his retirement in 2011. He is credited with driving Sanofi Pasteur’s leadership within the worldwide influenza market, capturing 50 percent of global sales. He also laid the foundation for the company’s pediatric vaccine strategy and bolstered the pipeline with the acquisitions of Acambis PLC in 2008 and Shantha Biotechnics in 2010. Prior to joining Sanofi Pasteur, he spent 11 years with Novartis (formerly Sandoz). He has a bachelor’s degree in biology from St. John Fisher College, New York and an MBA from the University of Dayton, Ohio.
