Vladimir “Vlad” Shmunis is a Ukrainian-born entrepreneur and the co-founder of Ring Central, one of the world’s fastest-growing, cloud communications solutions providers.

Shmunis, who immigrated to the U.S. with his family in the early 1970s, is a software industry veteran. Before starting RingCentral, he was the founder and CEO of Ring Zero Systems, which pioneered desktop software for business communications software. The company was acquired by Motorola in 1998.

Previously, he held a variety of software development and management roles at Silicon Valley companies, including Convergent Technologies, Inc. and Ampex Corporation.

Under Shmunis’ leadership, RingCentral has evolved from a startup, funded in 2006 with a $12 million Series A round by Sequoia and Khosla Ventures, to a publicly-traded company with a market cap of over $10 billion. Shmunis and his co-founder, Vlad Vendrow, took the company public in 2013.

RingCentral has topped the Omdia North American UCaaS Leadership Scorecard four years in a row. In 2019, it ranked highest for growth and innovation in Frost & Sullivan's UCaaS Radar Report.
