Before joining Runway, Carmela was an Audit Senior Manager at KPMG LLP. Carmela is a skilled finance and accounting professional with 10 years of experience in audit, accounting and risk management for financial institutions. Carmela was the Lead Senior Manager on the two largest banking audit engagements in the Chicago Financial Services Audit Practice. She has extensive experience in the performance of integrated audits and knowledge of SEC, PCAOB, COSO and SOX rules and requirements. In addition, Carmela is highly experienced in project management and improving efficiencies on audits. This led her to a role as Chicago Business Unit Continuous Improvement Champion. In this role, Carmela developed innovative methods for redesigning the program that has since been adopted nationally. She has consulted with audit teams and Business Units to identify pain points and find solutions in order to drive both audit efficiencies and audit quality.

Carmela is a CPA and has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Economics from Loyola University of Chicago.
