Mr. Hicks joined Alleghany Corporation as an Executive Vice President in 2002 and served as President and Chief Executive Officer from 2004 through his retirement at the end of 2021. During this time, he built Alleghany (now a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.) into a leading specialty insurance and reinsurance company with a complementary private equity business that owned eight platform companies in various non-financial industries. Prior to joining Alleghany, he was the Chief Financial Officer of the Chubb Corporation from 2001 to 2002. From 1991 until 2001 Mr. Hicks was an Equity Research Analyst with Sanford C.
