Shiv O’Neill serves as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Elanco. In this role, she is responsible for the global strategy and operations of our legal team, including commercial, intellectual property, regulatory legal, labor and employment, M&A and business development legal, and the office of the corporate secretary. She also oversees Elanco’s ethics & compliance and ESG matters.
In her previous role as VP, Deputy General Counsel - Americas for Elanco, Shiv led the strategy and operations of Elanco’s commercial and regulatory legal team in the Americas and provided strategic advice and counseling to company leaders within the U.S. Farm Animal, U.S. Pet Health and International businesses.
Prior to joining Elanco, Shiv served as Senior Counsel at Cummins Inc. During her tenure at Cummins, Shiv led critical matters in various areas, including global litigation, product safety, crisis management, internal investigations, and regulatory compliance, and served as counsel to Cummins subsidiary Zed Connect. Other leadership roles at Cummins include serving on the Product Safety Defect Board and the U.S. Legal Hiring Committee and leading the U.S. Pro Bono Committee. Before Cummins, Shiv was a partner at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP (now Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP), where she worked for 14 years and gained significant experience in litigation and transactional matters. Before joining Faegre Drinker, Shiv began her legal career at The Procter & Gamble Company.
Shiv was born in India and immigrated to the United States with her family as a child. She earned her undergraduate degree from Loyola University Chicago and her law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana. She has served on several boards of non-profit organizations and has been committed to pro bono work throughout her career.
