Jacques Kerrest is the executive vice chairman, chief operating officer and co-founder of Okta, a computer software company.
In his current roles, Kerrest is responsible for much of Okta’s day-to-day operations, such as working with employees, customers and partners to communicate the company’s vision of enabling organizations to better utilize technology. He helps set corporate priorities, oversees strategy, strategic partnerships, development, and heads up Okta’s social impact arm: Okta for Good.
Kerrest also serves as the chairman and co-founder of neurotherapeutics company, Herophilus. The AI-driven company he started in 2017 deploys phenotypic screening to develop novel drugs for complex brain diseases. He also co-founded and co-hosts the award-winning podcast, “Zero to IPO.” On the podcast, he interviews some of the biggest names in Silicon Valley about their experiences building businesses.
Prior to Okta and Herophilus, Kerrest worked as a summer associate for Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, evaluating software investment opportunities and helping companies strengthen their operations. From 2002 to 2007, he worked in sales and business development for Salesforce. During his five years with the company, he began to build the Latin American sales organization and was twice the recipient of a Peak Performer Sales Award.
Kerrest has always been passionate about enterprise technology, and early in his career he worked as the director of the enterprise technology division at Meridian Global Solutions in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. From 1997 to 2000, he held various internships as well as roles as a software engineer for companies like Moai Technologies and Sun Microsystems.
Kerrest currently serves as a member of the executive advisory board for the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship. He earned his French Baccalaureate (sciences) from Lycee International de St. Germain-en-Laye in France, his B.S. in computer science from Stanford University and his M.B.A. in entrepreneurship and innovation from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
