George Hu is the chief operating officer at Twilio, a cloud communications company that allows businesses to add messaging, voice, and video to their web and mobile applications.
Hu’s career began with product management and strategic consulting roles at North Point Communications and Boston Consulting Group.
He then arrived at Salesforce, where he spent 13 years working his way up from the bottom as an intern to the role of chief operating officer. He served as COO for four years, holding other top management positions along the way.
When he left Salesforce in 2014, he went on to found Peer, an app that lets employees and coworkers share feedback and performance reviews in real time. The company was purchased by Twitter in 2016.
Now at Twilio, Hu is responsible for managing the company’s overall operations and go-to-market activities.
Hu studied economics at Harvard and received an M.B.A. from Stanford University’s School of Business. He was also recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader in 2010.
