Forrest Norrod is the senior vice president and general manager for the datacenter and embedded solutions group at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). He has been with the company since 2014.

In his role at AMD, Norrod handles all sales, strategy, business management, and engineering for datacenter and embedded products. He has spent over 25 years in the tech industry, gaining experience through numerous engineering and management positions.

Prior to AMD, Norrod spent 13 years at Dell, most recently as vice president and general manager of server platforms, establishing the company’s market share leadership in key markets. Additionally, in his previous position as vice president and general manager of data center solutions, he successfully guided the development of Dell’s first internal startup, establishing its presence as a leader within the hyper-scale datacenter market.

Norrod joined Dell in 2000 in the role of CTO of client products, and he then managed the company’s enterprise engineering before taking control of all engineering teams globally.

Before Dell, he spent four years at microprocessor developer, Cyrix Corp., and three years at National Semiconductor, a semiconductor manufacturer specializing in analog devices and subsystems that acquired Cyrix in 1997. He also spent six years with Hewlett Packard as a development engineer. 

Norrod also holds 11 U.S. patents in computer architecture, graphics, and system design. He currently sits on the board at Intersil Corporation, a semiconductor company headquartered out of Milpitas, California.

He holds both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech.
