EVP of Lincoln National

Executive Vice President Leon Roday is the general counsel for Lincoln Financial Group. He oversees all activities for the legal, compliance, government relations and corporate secretary functions of the company, as well as provides strategic counsel to the CEO, senior management team and board of directors. He reports directly to Dennis Glass, president and CEO, and sits on the company’s Senior Management Committee, which drives the company’s long-term strategy.

Most recently, Roday worked for Genworth Financial and GE Financial Assurance where he served as general counsel, executive vice president and secretary to the board for nearly 20 years. Prior to that, he was a partner with LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene and McCrae L.L.P. where he specialized in insurance, litigation and corporate transactions. He began his legal career as an intern for both the Securities and Exchange Commission and the United States Attorney’s Office.

Roday earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He was a past chair of the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association, and sat on the board of the Association of Life Insurance Counsel. He is also a member of the Executive Committee for the Richmond Symphony Board and chaired the Genworth Foundation from 2006 to 2012.

It operates in four segments: Life Insurance, Annuities, Group Protection, and Retirement Plan Services. The Life Insurance segment provides life insurance products, including term insurance, universal life insurance (UL), indexed universal life insurance, variable universal life insurance (VUL), linked-benefit UL and VUL products, and critical illness and long-term care riders. The Annuities segment offers variable, fixed, and registered index-linked annuities. The Group Protection segment offers group non-medical insurance products consisting of short and long-term disability and statutory disability; paid family medical leave administration and absence management services; term life; dental and vision; and accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity benefits and services to the employer marketplace through various forms of employee-paid and employer-paid plans. The Retirement Plan Services segment provides employers with retirement plan products and services primarily in the defined contribution retirement plan marketplace; individual and group variable annuities, group fixed annuities, and mutual fund-based programs; and various plan services, including plan recordkeeping, compliance testing, participant education, and trust and custodial services.
