Ryan McInerney is the president of Visa, a position he’s held since 2013.
During his tenure with the credit card company, McInerney has been responsible for leading Visa’s global client organization, product management, and new solutions group, which focuses on creating new market products for Visa’s issuer, acquirer, and merchant clients.
Before joining Visa, McInerney was the CEO of consumer banking at JPMorgan Chase, where he grew the company’s revenue to $14 billion during his three-year tenure. While at JPMorgan, McInerney oversaw a network of 20 million customers across 23 states. He was the youngest member of the megabank’s executive committee at the time.
Earlier in his career, McInerney was chief operating officer of home lending and chief risk officer of Chase’s consumer businesses—roles in which he oversaw all credit risk management in everything from credit cards and auto finance, to home loans and business banking. He also worked as head of product marketing for consumer banking, directing the launch of the company’s mobile banking service.
From 1997 to 2005, he was a principal in McKinsey & Company’s retail banking and payment practices division.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame.
